An Ottumwa man was charged after assaulting his girlfriend of two years, according to Appanoose County Sheriff.
54-year-old Travis Davidson was charged with Willful Injury, causing bodily injury.
On May 14, court records say Davidson and his girlfriend got into an argument leading him to backhand her and get on top of her twice. According to authorities, Davidson grabbed her throat making it difficult for her to breathe, this caused injuries to her jawline and upper lip.
Davidson was taken to the Appanoose County Jail on June 8. According to court records, he waived his June 11 preliminary hearing.
