No one was injured in a fire which occurred in an Ottumwa residence last week, according to the City of Ottumwa.
At 3:05 AM on June 14, the Ottumwa Fire Department responded to a fire at 12 Birchwood Drive. Officials say the house had heavy smoke coming out of it.
Two people were in the residence at the time of the fire but were able to make it out. The city says they were able to go to the hospital via private vehicle in order to get checked out.
Firefighters made entry into the home, located the fire in the basement, and were able to extinguish the blaze.
The fire remains under investigation, according to officials.
