Four minors were among the five injured in an accident in Washington County Thursday morning.
Iowa State Patrol says 49-year-old David Herr of Fremont was driving a 2012 Kenworth TT hailing a trailer with large equipment on Highway 1. The driver of a 2005 Honda Odyssey was behind the trailer.
According to the accident report, the equipment caught on a railroad bridge that caused the equipment to fall and damage the vehicle behind it.
The 15-year-old driver of the Odyssey and a 12-year-old passenger were injured and transported to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. The other three occupants–two minors and 61-year-old Kathy Gugel of Wayland–were taken to the Washington Hospital. All of the passengers were wearing seat belts and their respective injuries are unknown.
The accident remains under investigation according to the Iowa State Patrol.
