An inmate at the Wapello County Jail is in more legal trouble after authorities say he coerced a minor to send illicit photos of herself to him.
20-year-old Vidal Martinez of Ottumwa has been charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, a Class B felony.
Court records say between July 26-30, 2023, Martinez made multiple video calls with a 14-year-old female juvenile while in the custody of the Wapello County Jail and instructed her to send him nude photos of herself to which she complied.
Martinez also faces charges for allegedly stealing a gun and firing at a moving vehicle last year. He entered a plea of not guilty.
Martinez is currently being held without bond in the Wapello County Jail.
