Police: Ottumwa Man Threatened to Incinerate Stepfather’s House

An Ottumwa man is behind bars after authorities say he threatened to set fire to his stepfather’s house.

45-year-old Timothy Clawson was charged with threat/attempt placement of incendiary device/substance, a Class D felony.

On March 6th at 4:50 PM, court records say Clawson’s stepfather was inside his home on East Main Street when he heard Clawson make threats to burn the house down. Clawson’s alleged threats were recorded on video.

Clawson was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail. When Clawson arrived, he was searched by jail staff and two clear plastic baggies containing methamphetamine were found in his possession, according to officials.

Clawson was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor.

Clawson’s bail has been set at $1,000. He’s been ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
