OPD: Man Assaulted Girl and Held Her Against Her Will After Picking Her Up From School

An Ottumwa man is accused of assaulting a juvenile on Wednesday and keeping her in his residence against her will.

According to the Ottumwa Police Department, a female juvenile told authorities Thursday morning that she was picked up from school by her boyfriend, later identified as 18-year-old Isaac Angel Martinez, and taken to his residence.

The minor told authorities that Martinez assaulted her in his home. He also allegedly threatened the girl with a firearm and kept her from contacting anyone. The juvenile says she was allowed to go to school the next day. She contacted the police from school.

Authorities located Martinez and arrested him at 11:30 AM on Thursday. He was charged with domestic abuse assault, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Search warrants were obtained for Martinez’s residence and vehicle. After the execution of the search warrants, Martinez was additionally charged with first-degree kidnapping, a Class A felony, and assault while participating in a felony, a Class D felony.

Martinez is currently in the Wapello County Jail. No bond has been set as of the time of publication.
