Lottie “Dolly” E. Dye, age 96, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Mahaska Hospice Serenity House. She was born on October 19, 1927, in Mahaska County, Iowa, the daughter of William C. and Jennie (VanderLinden) Hartman. She attended Oskaloosa High School and graduated in the class of 1945. She was united in marriage to the love of her life Donald D. Dye, on August 3, 1945, in Oskaloosa. To his union were born: Julie, Don, Jr., Lynne, and Kristen. Donald passed away on June 8, 2014.

Dolly loved caring for her family. She had a passion for cultivating a loving home. She was a hardworking and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She found joy in cooking, tending to her yard, reading, and supporting her loving husband. Together, she and Don pastored Lower Grove Church and Lancaster Christian Church. She attended Omega Church, and lastly, Calvary Bible Church. Dolly’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and attending church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Julie (Ross Knipfer) Montgomery of North English, Iowa; Don Dye, Jr., of Belmond, Iowa; Lynne (Le) Rogers of Oskaloosa, Iowa; and Kristen (Curt) Sarver of Oskaloosa, Iowa: five grandchildren: Julie (Jim) Miller: Cory (Dayna) Sarver; Grant (Jenn) Rogers: Courtney (Brian) DeRonde: and Ryan (Jossy) Rogers: great grandchildren: Riley (Sydney) Miller: Brooklyn (Gunnar) Pearson; Gabi Miller; Audra, Ethan, Brennan, and Quinn Sarver; Bennett (Jaden) Birkner; Ainsley Rogers; M’Lynn, Brady, and Callen DeRonde; Graham and Maeve Rogers; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents; a son-in-law, Keith Montgomery; a great granddaughter, Lydia Miller; three brothers: William Jr., Roger, and Jack Hartman; two sisters: Dorothy Warwick and Betty Smith.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Bible Church in Oskaloosa, with Reverend Dr. Douglas Smiley officiating. Burial will be at University Park Cemetery in University Park, Iowa. Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin on Thursday, February 15, at 11:00 a.m. Family will be present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. to greet friends and family. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Calvary Bible Church.
