A child is recovering after being hit by a semi truck on Friday, according to the Oskaloosa Police Department.
A 911 call was received just after 5:00 PM to report the accident that occurred on North Market.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and learned a young child attempted to cross the highway on foot and suffered serious injuries after being struck.
The accident victim was taken to the local hospital. The child’s injuries were characterized as “serious but not life-threatening” by authorities.
Police say the driver of the semi stopped the truck and fully cooperated with the investigation. The driver was later released from the scene and not cited.
