Vilma Teresita Collins-Dominguez, 78, of Ottumwa, died at 5:57 a.m. January 6, 2024 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born January 28, 1945 in Belize, Central America to Tiburcio Arjonilla and Escolastica Aurora Augustla. Vilma married Jose Dominguez on August 27, 2022.
Vilma was a teacher in Belize before moving in 1978 and lived in California until 1995 before moving to Ottumwa.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Visitation. Vilma was dedicated to praying and to the church.
Vilma enjoyed singing, dancing, crafting, reminiscing about old times, sewing, cooking, being outdoors and loved spending time with the family. She had volunteered at Goodwill.
Surviving is her husband, Jose; her children, Francine Requena of Colorado Springs, CO, Martha Requena of Independence, MO, Monico (Meagan) Requena of Ottumwa and Marie Requena of Kansas City, MO; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Concepcion Arjonilla of Belize.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Mark Requena and a granddaughter, Kayla McClendon.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 11th at Reece Funeral Home with Father Joseph Sia officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service Thursday.
