Marvel Marie Boyer, 85 of Ottumwa died January 7, 2024 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
Marie was born September 23, 1938 in Albia to Clair and Marvel (Casebolt) Scott. She grew up in Highland Center and graduated from Hedrick High School in 1957. On January 7, 1958 she married the love of her life, Errett Eugene “Gene” Boyer and to this union seven children were born.
Maire had worked at Everco, then she and Gene managed Meyers on North Elm, retiring in 2000. She was currently attending North Court Baptist Church.
Surviving are her children, Denise (John) Fuller of Cedar Rapids, Christine (Kevin) Koob of Tipton, Joyce Bane of Vinton, Janice (Kurt) Borgwardt of Waterloo and Marvin (Tracy) Boyer of Ottumwa; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and a sister, Deloris Caldwell of Albia.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years; a daughter, Jane Evelyn Boyer; a son, Glen Eugene Boyer; her parents; sisters, Virginia Walker and Betty Arendt.
Visitation will be open at 11 a.m. Friday, January 12th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 13th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Hemmings officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
