Steven Craig Meeker, 70, of Ottumwa, died at 5:10 a. m. January 4, 2024 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
He was born April 11, 1953 in Ottumwa to Walter W. and Juanita Vannoy Meeker. He married Marlena Gullett and they later divorced.
A 1971 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Steve had worked for D & D Auto and owned and operated Steve’s Garage where he specialized in auto body and painting vehicles. He later worked for Paulos Salvage, Goldy’s Auto and Dani’s Auto Supply.
Steve enjoyed going to swap meets and traveling to look for car parts. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
Surviving are his children, Scott (Julie) Meeker, Terry Meeker and Shayleen Linville all of Ottumwa; 2 grandsons, Steven Meeker and Daniel Linville; 4 brothers, Gary (Merna) Meeker of Davenport, Dale Meeker of Ottumwa, Neil (Staci) Meeker of Altoona and Dennis (Denise) Meeker of Killeen, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Rosemary Meeker.
Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Monday, January 8th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 9th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Courtney officiating. Cremation will take place after the service. Inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties.
