Sherri Lynn Hughes, 61, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on January 15, 2024 at her home. She was born on November 15, 1962 in Davis County, Iowa to Billy Parker and Mildred Mae “Midge” Spurgeon Bolick. She graduated from Davis County High School in 1981 and then attended Kirkwood Community College. She married Steven Hughes on September 25, 1986 in Columbia, Missouri. They would later divorce.
Sherri worked for Plexico in Bloomfield for many years before working as a CNA at the Bloomfield Care Center and the County Home in rural Davis County. She also took care of many people in their homes as an in-home health care provider. She was a talented painter, enjoyed going fishing, and loved doing yardwork; her favorite smell was fresh cut grass. Her smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by a son, Kyle (Raleke) Hughes of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and a brother, Brian (Manda) Bolick of West Des Moines, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and former spouse, Steven Hughes.
Sherri’s wish was to be cremated. A visitation with the family present to greet friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield Care Center Activity Fund.
