Patrick T. Larkin, 88, of Ottumwa, died at 1:19 a.m. January 26, 2024 at his home.

He was born September 7, 1935 in Ottumwa to William James and Mae Irene Muldoon Larkin. He married Geraldine “Geri” Kosman October 19, 1963.

Pat attended Happy Hollow grade school and was a 1953 graduate of Catholic Central High School. He raised cattle and farmed all of his life. He was a beef cattle consultant for a few years for the Iowa State Extension Office and served as Cass Township Trustee for many years.

Pat was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Cattleman’s Association. He was awarded Cattleman of the Year for the State of Iowa in 1989. He enjoyed working cattle with his fellow cattlemen and spending time with his family. Pat especially loved attending his grandchildren’s 4-H activities and sporting events.

Surviving is his wife, Geri; their three sons, Tom (Rose) Larkin of Ottumwa, Pat (Kelly) Larkin of Naperville, IL and Chris (Teresa) Larkin of Ottumwa; grandchildren, Katie (Dalton) Kraber, Ben Larkin (fiancé, Kayla Emery), Lauryn Larkin, Sean Larkin, Grant Larkin, Gabe Larkin, Craig Larkin (fiancé, Anna Phillips) and Andrew (Nicole) Larkin; 2 great-grandchildren, Claire Isabelle Larkin and Arthur James “A.J.” Kraber; a brother, Mike Larkin; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill Larkin and Joe Larkin; and nephew, Don Larkin.

Visitation will be open after 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 30th at Reece Funeral Home. A Christian Wake service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday followed by a time to greet family until 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 31st at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Dale Mallory celebrating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church or Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties.
