José Angel Espinoza Silva, 38, of Ottumwa, died January 12, 2024 at his parents’ home. He was born May 19, 1985 in Mexico City, Mexico to Jose Espinoza Cruz and Aurora Silva Escobar.
Moving to Ottumwa in April of 2000, he graduated from Ottumwa High School in 2004. In high school he helped start the OHS Soccer Team and participated in the ROTC program. He was a huge soccer fan and his happiest years were when he was in high school.
He had worked for Cargill Meat Solutions, Cargill in Eddyville and at the foundry in Fairfield. Living in Oregon for a short time, he returned to Ottumwa and has worked at Tortaco alongside his father for the past 4 years.
Jose enjoyed making friends and visiting with everyone. He especially will be known for helping others.
Surviving are his parents of Ottumwa; a son, Jose Angel Espinoza Lozano; three sisters, Sandra (Eduardo Morales) Espinoza, Maria (Yasfir) Torres and Lluvia Espinoza (Brian Gee); four nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Fr. Dale Malory officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
His family will be present one hour prior to the service to greet friends.
