Des Moines, IA- The National Weather Service as issued a dense fog alert for portions of central and southern Iowa. The alert is in effect through the early afternoon hours, but with gradually improving conditions as rain increases.
Mahaska, Monroe, Wapello, Appanoose and Davis counties are included in this alert. Areas of fog, dense in spots, with visibilities as low as a quarter mile will hinder travel this afternoon. Drivers should be alert for reduced visibility at times.
