Bela “Hunky” Hummel, 88, of Eldon, Iowa formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away, January 9, 2024 at Hospice House in Ottumwa, Iowa surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 17, 2023 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home with visitation being held from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be held from 11:00 am-2:00 pm on Monday, January 15, 2023 at Cranston Family Funeral Home, Fairfield, Iowa. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society.
Bela was born October 1, 1935 in Nyergesujfalu, Hungary to Jano and Anna (Puchner) Hummel. He was united in marriage to Wilma J. Raney on October 17, 1959.
Bela came to the United States in 1957 and became a US Citizen in 1962. Bela worked at Continental Cement Plant, formerly Dewey Portland, in Buffalo, Iowa for 33 years. He retired May 1990 and moved to Eldon, Iowa in June of 1990. Bela enjoyed hunting, bowling, his family and making friends. He made friends everywhere he went.
Those left behind are his loving wife, Wilma; daughters Ida Murray, Davenport, IA and Eva (Gary) Bussard, Milan, IL; grandchildren Kristy Ramos, Lisa (Randy, Jr.) Perkins and Julia Mills all of Davenport; great-grandchildren Amber, Lillian, Jordan, Olivia, Alisha, Miguel, Lavar and Gianna, all of Davenport; and sister Julianna (Hummel) Istvanne Urban, of Hungary.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and brother Geza Hummel, all of Hungary.
