Ottumwa Post – An Ottumwa sex offender was sentenced last week after pleading guilty to charges that he sexually assaulted a woman while posing as a massage therapist.
51-year-old Cory Blake West entered the plea agreement with prosecutors earlier this month in court records filed on December 7.
West received an 8 year suspended prison sentence and will serve two years on probation. He must complete a halfway house program, must remain on GPS monitoring for one year at a minimum and must complete a sex offender treatment program.
West was arrested on April 5, 2023, and charged with third-degree sexual abuse and three counts of sex offender registry violation
According to court documents, an investigation into West began on March 29, following a report that he was portraying himself as a massage therapist to entice victims into his home with the intent of committing sexual assaults.
Police say in court documents that West had an adult female at his residence, 801 South Davis Street in Ottumwa, to perform a massage. When he touched the woman’s genitals she left immediately and reported the incident to law enforcement.
