Eldon, IA– Every year Eldon gets to indulge in a special Christmas tradition. Don and Diana Harness treat the community to a display of lights and decorations that rival the best. Don isn’t sure how many years they have been doing this but it has been at least 30.
With around 100 blow molds, wire displays and inflatables, there are too many lights to count. When asked how many extension cords he uses Don said “I would hate to guess. Over a tub full.” Even though it adds about 25% to their monthly electric bill, they say it is well worth it. Diana says their favorite part is watching all the kids as they come to view the displays.
The display changes year to year as new decorations are added and old ones wear out. They are located behind the Casey’s and the lights are on from 4 to 9pm throughout the holiday season. Head out, enjoy the lights and harness some Christmas Spirit of your own.
