The city of Ottumwa’s Director of Finance has resigned, according to a press release.
Effective Monday, the city accepted the resignation of Wasem Nasir. Nasir was hired in October 2022.
Jessica Kinser will be the interim Director of Finance until a permanent replacement is hired.
The city’s finance department has come under scrutiny due to missing financial reports from the last fiscal year. At the November 7 City Council meeting, City Administrator Phil Rath says the matter will be dealt with.
“Recently there have a number of comments and concerns regarding the city financial picture in the aspect of financial reporting. We’ve been working on the completion of this information while maintaining daily operations.” City Administrator Phil Rath
Rath says he will provide regular updates in future City Council meetings.
