Raymond Russell Lanman Jr., 80, of Floris, died at 6:58 a.m. October 28, 2023 at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.
He was born March 10, 1943 to Russell and Gladys LaRue Swaim Lanman. Raymond married Delorris Fitzsimmons on July 29, 1966.
Raymond farmed from a young age, having grown up on the family farm. He earned his CDL from Indian Hills Community College and worked for Schmidt Construction, building bridges, from where he retired. He operated his own sawmill and cut firewood every day.
Raymond enjoyed collecting toy tractors and arrowhead hunting.
Surviving is his wife, Delorris; 3 sons, Rick (Brenda) Fitzsimmons of Ottumwa, Allan (Barbara) Lanman of Hedrick and Kenny (Valerie) Lanman of Eldon; a daughter, Christina (Lloyd) Hopkins of Floris; 8 grandchildren, Tony Fitzsimmons, Cody Fitzsimmons, Colton (Jessica) Lanman, Shelby Lanman, Elizabeth Denniston, Charli (Colton) LaPoint, C.J. (Bre) Hopkins and Dani (Chris) Cherrier; 5 great-grandchildren, Raelyn, Hunter, Brynlee, Leonardo and Mateo; siblings, Earl (Gail) Lanman of Arkansas, Carrol (Esther) Lanman of Ohio, Mary Webster of Moline, IL, Sharon (Joe) Collier of Fairfield and Janet Latta of Ottumwa; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Craig Lanman, Keith Lanman, Max Lanman, David Lanman, Beverly Murdock and 2 nephews.
Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 2nd at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Cremation will follow the visitation. Private graveside services and inurnment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
