Deloris Ann DeKraai, 85, of Ottumwa, died at 9:50 a.m. October 15, 2023 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born April 3, 1938 in Ottumwa to Roland F. and Betty L. McReynolds Krayenhagen. She married Dale Richard DeKraai December 10, 1960 and he preceded her in death July 31, 2021.
Deloris had been a dietary aide at numerous area nursing homes and worked for the food bank.
She was a member of Albia Road Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, cooking and crafts. Deloris loved decorating for the holidays, cooking meals for the church and for funerals. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Deborah (Kirk) Miller of New London, Kelley Jernigan of Ottumwa, Debra Peek-Conder of Ottumwa, Katrina Rupe of Ottumwa and Dennis DeKraai of Ft. Madison; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren; half-siblings, Don Wemer, David Wemer, Dale Wemer, Doug Wemer, Dennis Wemer, Duane Wemer, Terry Wemer, Jean Krayenhagen, Patricia Gray, Ronda Perez and Carol Carnes.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roland Krayenhagen; mother and step-father, Betty and Norman Wemer; a son, Donald DeKraai; daughters, Denise DeKraai and Deanna DeKraai; grandsons, Christopher Peek, Danny DeKraai and Arthur Thrasher Rupe; and brothers, Jim Krayenhagen, Richard Krayenhagen and Robert “Butch” Wemer.
Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Sunday October 22nd at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, October 23rd, at Albia Road Baptist Church with Pastor Alan Paris officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
