An Ottumwa woman was arrested after allegedly striking another woman in the head with a baseball bat Tuesday night.
44-year-old Amanda Gorrell has been charged with going armed with intent and willful injury, both Class D felonies.
Court records say Gorrell armed herself with the wooden bat and rendered a female unconscious by hitting her in the head. The victim also suffered a laceration. The alleged attack occurred at a residence on Albia Road in Ottumwa.
Gorrell was transported to the Wapello County Jail where she is being held on a $5,000 bond.
Gorrell has been ordered not to have any contact with the victim. She has a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 25.
