Carol Ann Overlander, 88, of Stockport, IA passed away on June 22, 2023, at the Keosauqua Health Care Center in Keosauqua, IA. Visitation with the family present will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the Cranston-Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mary Kathryn Hart officiating. Burial will be in the Spencer Cemetery immediately following the service. At the conclusion of the service, food and fellowship will be at the American Legion Building in Stockport, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carol’s honor may be directed to the Stockport United Methodist Church, Spencer Cemetery Association or to the Stockport Public Library. Carol Ann Wolf Overlander was born on April 18, 1935, in Iowa City, IA to Herbert Ivan and Verda Gladys Horn Wolf. Carol attended schools in Atalissa and West Liberty, IA. Carol graduated from West Liberty High School in 1953. In high school Carol worked as a waitress at the Lunch Car. After high school she worked at the West Liberty Telephone Company.

Carol was united in marriage to Kirk H. Shore on June 26, 1954, they later divorced. Carol married Allen Wayne Overlander on December 6, 1973. After moving to Stockport, she helped her husband on the family farm.

During Carol’s life in Muscatine, she worked as a waitress at various locations, in childcare, the neighborhood grocery store and ran the proof machine at Central State Bank. When Carol moved to Stockport, she worked at the Stockport Public Library for 17 ½ years. This suited her perfectly as she loved the older folks and the young children. Carol developed her passion for reading during this time and it continued throughout the rest of her life. Carol had other passions throughout her life which included dancing, playing cards, traveling with Al on vacations and going to many Iowa Hawkeye Basketball games. She also enjoyed golfing with him and going to baseball games. Carol and Al were involved in their community and were members of the Stockport United Methodist Church. Most of all Carol loved her family and will be greatly missed.

Carol is survived by her children, Jeri (Jim) Berverlin of Muscatine, IA, Steven Shore, Rod (Linda) Overlander of Denton, TX, and Kim Hanson of Dumont, IA; her grandchildren, Brian and Chad Beverlin, Will and Clarke Overlander, Zac, Levi, and Lucas Hanson; a brother, Larry (Julie) Wolf of Muscatine; brother-in-law, Maurice (Nancy) Overlander of Osage Beach, MO, as well as many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law and two sisters, Dorthy Inhelder and Marilyn Hansen.
