Linda Scott


Linda Jean Scott, 60 years and 7 months old, died May 26, 2023 at home in Agency. She suffered from Crohn’s disease and COVID19.

She was born October 15, 1962 in El Paso, TX to Charles Floyd and Darlene Louise Gay Scott. Linda was unmarried and had no children.

A 1980 graduate of Cardinal High School, Linda had also graduated from Indian Hills Community College. She had attended University of Iowa and later obtained a teaching degree from Iowa Wesleyan University in Mt. Pleasant.

Linda worked at various jobs, most notably for her father in his CPA office. She studied and took the IRS exam to become an enrolled agent, which is a designation of tax professional.

Linda loved horses and from the age of three, rode her horse Smokey, a cross between a Welsh and Shetland pony, bareback and always at full gallop. Later she took over her mother’s horse, Perk, a saddle horse that was much taller, faster and powerful. She kept Perk through his old age. Linda almost always had a horse. At about 20 years old, she was racing standard bred horses for a few years.

Linda was very family-oriented and especially loved her twin niece and nephew.

She is survived by her parents, Charles and Darlene; a brother, Randy (Monica) Scott; twin niece and nephew, Mandy and Robert; an uncle, Junior (Linda) Gay; many cousins, aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edwin and Wilma Gay and Harry and Minnie Scott.

Charles, Darlene and Randy feel assured Linda is happy and has been welcomed in heaven by her many friends who have preceded her in death and are sure that someday they will be reunited again, forever.

Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1st with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 2nd at Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Wapello County Sheriff’s Office, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to the family.
