Two Dead After Two-Vehicle Accident in Lee County

A two-vehicle accident in Lee County on Wednesday claimed the lives of two southeast Iowans.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, at 4:30 PM, a Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by 73-year-old Rose Becker of Farmington was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Country Road J40 and US 218. The vehicle turned west onto the highway and into the path of a Freightliner that was traveling northbound.

The Freightliner struck the driver’s side door of the Chrysler, causing the passenger of the Chrysler, 75-year-old Ross Becker, to be ejected from the vehicle according to the accident report.

Both Rose and Ross Becker were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Freightliner, 53-year-old Juan Ramirez of Red Oak, Texas, was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
