A registered sex offender in Ottumwa was arrested after authorities say he enticed victims into his home with the intention of committing sexual assault.
51-year-old Cory Blake West has been charged with third-degree sexual abuse and sex offender registry violation.
According to the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office, an investigation began on March 29 for an alleged sexual assault. It was revealed to investigators that West posed as a massage therapist in order to lure victims into his home.
On April 5, authorities executed a search warrant on West’s home on South Davis Street. Evidence was located and seized.
In addition to being a registered sex offender, the sheriff’s office says West’s criminal history spans over several decades and several states.
West was taken into custody and transported to the Wapello County Jail. He was later released after posting a $12,000 bond.
