Paul E. Lane, 82, of Ottumwa, died at 12:55 a.m. April 14, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
He was born June 26, 1940 in Iowa City to Alvin and Catherine Brown Lane. Paul married Dixie Lee Burtis on June 9, 1990.
A graduate of Eldon High School, Paul served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-1963. He worked at John Deere Ottumwa Works for 30 years.
Paul was a member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He loved boating, deer hunting and snowmobiling.
Surviving is his wife, Dixie; his children, Christopher Lane of Ottumwa, Jennifer (Pat) Soots of Ottumwa, Nicholas (Mandi) Lane of Ankeny, Deanna Lane of Missouri and Leanna (Shawn) Peters of Arizona; step-daughters, Jodi (Tom) Leeper of Marshalltown and Debra (Tim) Baird of North Dakota; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; siblings, Robert, Cindy, Sheryl, Kathy and Sandy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter, Sayla Lane; a sister, Patricia and step-son, Bob Burtis.
His body has been cremated. Graveside services and inurnment will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 18th at Shaul Cemetery with Chaplain Doug McAntire officiating. Military honors will be conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
