One of the teenagers accused of killing a teacher in Fairfield last year was given a new trial date.
The attorneys for Willard Miller, 17, asked for more time to prepare for their client’s trial which was scheduled for November. The new trial date has been set for March 20, 2023.
The trial will take place in Council Bluffs after a judge granted Miller’s request to move the trial out of Jefferson County in June.
Miller is also seeking to have evidence recovered from his home and phone suppressed. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for November 2.
Authorities say Miller and Jeremy Goodale beat 66-year-old Nohema Graber to death with a baseball bat last November in Chautauqua Park in Fairfield. The pair then hit Graber’s body underneath a tarp and railroad ties.
Miller and Goodale have each been charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit a forcible felony.
