An Ottumwa man faces two felony charges after allegedly attacking an individual with a knife during a confrontation.

23-year-old RK Kalus has been charged with willful injury and going armed with intent, both Class D felonies.

Court records say on August 19th, Kalus armed himself with a knife before going to pick up his child from his girlfriend’s house on the 500 block of Ogden Street in Ottumwa. Police say Kalus was upset his child was with his girlfriend’s family.

When Kalus arrived at the home, authorities say he confronted an unarmed individual outside the house. Kalus went after the person with the knife and cut the victim in the back of the head causing a long laceration.

Kalus was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail. He was freed after posting a $10,000 bond.

Kalus waived his preliminary court hearing.
