Patricia Ann Katzartones, 95, of Ottumwa, went to be with her Lord August 1, 2022 at her home.

She was born January 12, 1927 in Ottumwa to George Edward and Catherine Cecelia Corrigan Mier.

A lifelong resident of Ottumwa, Patricia graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1944. Through the years, she worked at the Burlington Ammunition Plant and Rowe Drugstore. After that, she became a familiar face to local voters, serving over 40 years with the Wapello County, Iowa Registered Voters.

Patricia was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Mary of the Visitation and St. Patrick Catholic Church, along with the Altar and Rosary Society. Her hobbies included baking bread, crocheting, reading and donating her books, puzzles with grandkids, puzzle books and she was an avid soap opera watcher. She also loved watching Judge Judy and many baking shows. Patricia dedicated her time and was very active in all her grandchildren’s sports and activities.

Surviving are her 5 daughters, Colleen (Bill) Dickinson, LuAnn (Dan) Quinn and Karen Howard all of Ottumwa, Lisa (Barb) Katzartones of Lake Havasu, AZ and Kathleen (Ron) Findley of Kellogg; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; a cousin, Robert Eugene Tracy; and her dog, Marley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Joseph Anthony Mier; a grandson, Jason Anthony Howard; 2 great-grandsons, Aidan Thomas Baumgartner and Cooper Jaidan Houk; and her dog, Heidi.

Visitation will be open after 11 a.m. Thursday, August 4th at Reece Funeral Home. A Christian Wake service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home followed by a time for family to greet friends until 7 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, August 5th at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Patrick Hilgendorf presiding. For those unable to attend the service, it may be viewed live on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The family would like to thank Peg Herrmann for dedicating her time and company with weekly visits and providing communion to Patricia.
