Ronald Eugene Runyon, 75, died at 7:22 p.m. July 8, 2022 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

He was born June 22, 1947 in Kirksville, MO to Leslie and Genevieve Randolph Runyon. He married Linda Kirby in 1965 and they later divorced. He married Annie Loomis and they later divorced. He married Pamela Ruth Pilcher April 11, 2000. She preceded him in death July 22, 2017.

A 1965 graduate of Van Buren Community School, Ronald had lived in the Douds and Eldon area most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.

He had worked for various companies including Wausau Homes, Jerry’s ProGas, Golden Furrow, and Dave Weir Farms. He, along side his wife, Pam, owned and operated Jones Café in Eldon, and retired shortly after it closed.

Ronald was a member of the American Legion in Eldon, Iowa Farm Bureau, and Wapello County Fair Board.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working outside, NASCAR, and watching his granddaughter’s softball and bowling games.

Surviving are two sons, Tad (Shelby) Runyon of Casa Grande, AZ, Todd (Stephanie) Runyon of Batavia; a step-son, Joe Allen Pilcher (Andrea Scharbaum of Eldon; three grandchildren, Tyler, Thayne and Nicholas Runyon; a step grandchild, Olivia Pilcher; a sister, Carol Ann Birchmier of Bloomfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Kimberly Renae; an infant step-son Craig Pilcher; brother-in-law, Dennis Birchmier.

His body has been cremated.

Visitation will begin 1 p.m. Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to the family.
