Belinda Jean Anstey, 68, died at 10:06 p.m. July 8, 2022 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born July 20, 1953 in Belleville, KS to Jack and Barbara Dresslar Post. Belinda married Henry Dennis Anstey December 30, 1972.
Growing up in Des Moines and Council Bluffs, Belinda graduated in 1971 from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs and attended Iowa State University.
Belinda worked as a para educator at Ottumwa High School in the Special Education Department for 18 years, retiring in 2011.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and belonged to the quilting club at church. Belinda taught religious education and confirmation as well as sponsoring several through RCIA. Belinda loved traveling with her husband, murder mysteries and Jeopardy. She enjoyed playing board games, especially Scrabble and was active in following her kids in 4-H, Cub Scouts, and helping with the marching band. She especially loved visiting her grandkids and spending time with those she loved.
Surviving is her husband of 49 years, Dennis; their children, Nick Anstey of Ottumwa, Matt (Pam) Anstey of Ottumwa, Carrie (Jared) Jones of Charles City, Kevin Anstey of Muscatine and Megan (Adam) Boswell of Corning, IA; grandchildren, Ryan (Rebecca) Rexroat, Seth (Haley) Rexroat, Lucas VanBlaricon, Emily, Jacob, Sean and Audrey Jones, Ashton, Carson, Ramona Skylynn, Nova and Jackson Boswell; two great granddaughters, Callie and Remington Rexroat; four siblings, Sue (Dan) Ford of Audubon, Kathy Henry of Springfield, MO, Mike (Janice) Post of Georgetown, GA and Lisa (Jeff) Kahler of Springfield, MO; along with many more loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ramona Post and Barbara and Bob Taylor; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dick and Alice Anstey; four brothers-in-law, Bart Henry, Dan Anstey, Tim Anstey and Kevin Anstey.
Visitation will be open after 11 a.m. Tuesday July 12th at Reece Funeral Home. A Rosary and Christian Wake service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 12th at Reece Funeral Home followed by a time for family to greet friends until 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 13th at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Patrick Hilgendorf presiding. For those unable to attend the service, it may be viewed on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Special Olympics or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
