Roberta “Bertie” Marie Leffler, age 50 of Moravia, Iowa passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022 due to injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.

Bertie was born November 13, 1971 to Dal Douglas Nejedly in Randolph County, Missouri.

She spent her childhood years and early adult life in Missouri.  Bertie moved to Iowa when she began her relationship with the love of her life, Matthew Leffler.  They were married on November 2, 2014.

Bertie was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to all.  She will always be remembered by her gigantic heart, and how she was always the first to help someone in need.  She had the softest heart for children, and all children loved her in return.  She was giving to all.  Bertie always made sure everyone had a meal regardless of their situation, and generously donated to anyone in need.  She was a stranger to no one and could strike up a conversation with anyone.

Bertie had many talents.  She was a fabulous cook, baker, and she could knit.  She loved the outdoors, liked to fish, and enjoyed her yearly fishing trips with her husband, Matt.  Bertie was always up for a good time, and her smile was contagious.

Bertie’s talents lead her to many various jobs in her lifetime.  She performed many clerical duties and performed many jobs where she could showcase her culinary talent.  Bertie even had her own catering business.  Usually, the job Bertie was performing was because she knew the employer needed her help.

She will be missed by all.  From her family, to her coworkers, friends and especially the communities that benefited from her benevolent heart.

She is survived by her adoring husband, Matthew Leffler of Moravia, Iowa; her two daughters, Kelsey (Josh) Oster of Albia, Iowa and Ashley (Eric) Hedrick of Versailles, Missouri; her granddaughter and best friend, Ryleigh Kay; her brother, Kevin Nejedly; two sisters, Missy Swygard and Lou Ann Brockman; as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Bertie was preceded in death by her Dad, “Papa Doug,” her adopted Dad, Ronnie; and her brother, Frank.

Cremation has been accorded.  Services honoring Bertie’s life will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Josh Davenport officiating.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to an Education Fund for Bertie’s Grandchildren and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, IA 52544.  Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com or on our Facebook page.
