Firefighters responded to a fire at the Cargill plant in Eddyville Thursday morning.
Deputy Chief Cory Benge of the Ottumwa Fire Department told Ottumwa Radio News at 8:33 AM, that the department received a call concerning the blaze.
Kelly Sheehan, External Communications Director at Cargill, says a building at the facility that is currently being demolished caught on fire prompting the company to call for help. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze which did not spread to other buildings, according to Sheehan.
Sheehan says no one was injured. The cause of the fire is unknown but there will be an investigation.
