A two-out bloop double by Ryan Sinnott drove in the game-winning run in the seventh inning as Centerville downed Davis County 3-1 in Bloomfield on Monday night.
Centerville lefty Owen Williams pitched a complete game, allowing just one unearned run on three hits. He walked three and struck out eight.
Sinnott’s game-clinching hit was preceded by a rundown. With two outs in the seventh inning, Brandon Shinn was caught between second and third base but a throwing error allowed Shinn to escape safely to third base.
Dawson Townsend took the loss for Davis County. He pitched two outs into the seventh inning and allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits. Townsend walked three and struck out six.
An RBI single by Centerville’s Connor Lancaster opened the scoring in the fourth inning. Davis County tied the game with an RBI single by Caedyn Glosser in the fifth inning.
Davis County (13-8, 8-3 in the South Central Conference) travels to Albia on Tuesday for a doublheader.
