Dorothy Denney, 98, of Oskaloosa, passed away Sunday morning, May 1, 2022, at the Mahaska Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.

Dorothy Ione Denney, daughter of Elmer and Mary (Passalia) Shipley, was born September 26, 1923, in Sigourney, Iowa. She attended Tioga Country School and then Delta High School. On June 5, 1943, Dorothy was united in marriage to Donald Eugene Denney in Lancaster, Missouri. They made their home in Oskaloosa, and Dorothy worked for Continental and Big Smith Overall Factories for 39 years. From 1983 to 1986, she worked for Pella Products in New Sharon. She finished her career with McCurdy Seed in Fremont, retiring after two seasons. Dorothy enjoyed caring for her flower gardens and yard. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge and attended the Good News Chapel.

Those left to cherish her memory are several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a dear friend, Annie Poush of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and a special niece, Margie (Arthur) Millikin of Hedrick.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Don, on July 2, 2014; five sisters: Dolly Boston, Nellie Ehrenhardt, Lucille Herrick, Nancy Gilchrist, and Marguerite Schwartz; and five brothers: Tommy, George, Joe, Elmer Eugene and infant, Robert Shipley.

Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Langkamp Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Alvern Boetsma of the Good News Chapel officiating. The burial will be in Tioga Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday.
