An Ottumwa man is facing drug possession and child endangerment charges after a traffic stop.

According to court documents, at around 12:48 AM on April 10, 46 year old George Edward Jordon was stopped by an OPD officer for dark tinted windows on S. Iowa Ave. The officer claimed to smell cannabis coming from the vehicle (thus allowing a search) when Jordon stepped out of the vehicle. He allegedly admitted to smoking two joints before driving and a THC vaping device was found in the driver side door of the vehicle. A child was also in the car without a child restraint.

Court records state that Jordon showed a lack of visual convergence on a “Modified Romberg” test for cannabis impairment and he additionally estimated the passage of 30 seconds as 19 seconds. Jordon allegedly refused standard field sobriety tests and also refused to submit a urine sample.

Jordon was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense (Serious Misdemeanor), Child Endangerment (Aggravated Misdemeanor), and Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Offense (D Class Felony). He was taken to the Wapello County Jail where he later bonded out. A court appearance is set for April 14.

As a reminder, a criminal charge is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

This is trash journalism. All you do is slander people. I have no respect for you and your publication. Typical Karen b.s. to give the old bastards something to complain about.
