Three Injured in SE Iowa Wrong-Way Crash

Three southeast Iowa motorists were injured in a wrong-way crash in Henry County early Friday morning.

According to the accident report, at 1:26 AM, a Hyundai Elantra driven by 34-year-old Heather Brown of Fairfield was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of a construction zone near mile marker 226 on Highway 34.

The Elantra collided head-on with a Ford F350 driven by 55-year-old Alan Fredrick of Ottumwa. Shortly after, the Elantra struck another pickup truck driven by 75-year-old Edward Grade of Ottumwa.

Brown was ejected from her vehicle in the accident. She was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic.

Grade sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to Iowa City.

Fredrick was also injured. He was taken to Henry County Health Center.

The Iowa State Patrol says the accident remains under investigation.
