Pamela Van Kleek, 74, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, May 13, 2022, at the Mercy One Hospital in Des Moines. She was born September 24, 1947, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Willard Donald and Evelyn Slye Bonney. She graduated from Cardinal High School with the class of 1966. She went on to complete her cosmetology certificate from Ottumwa Beauty Academy in Ottumwa. She was united in marriage to Floyd Glandon and later divorced. She was later married to Kenneth Kelderman, from this union came three children Harlan, Peyton, and Kendra. Pamela and Kenneth later divorced. On June 16, 2001, she was united in marriage to Geral Van Kleek in Oskaloosa.

Pam was a talented seamstress, and early on worked at various tailor shops in Oskaloosa and Ottumwa. She later worked as a beautician in Oskaloosa and Ottumwa. In 1989, she took a job at Wal-Mart when the store opened in Oskaloosa. She held various positions at the previous location and at the Super Wal-Mart on the westside of Oskaloosa. She retired from the accounting department at the Oskaloosa Wal-Mart in 2009. In retirement she worked at Puppy Love Quilting in Oskaloosa. Being a talented seamstress blessed and cursed her all of her life. She loved to make quilts and cross stitch projects for family and friends. She would grumble about “fixing” tears and tatters for family, but her kind heart would always shine through and she would fix things good as new. She was a member of the Mahaska Stitch ‘n’ Quilt Guild.

Her family includes her husband of over 20 years, Geral Van Kleek of Oskaloosa; three children, Harlan (Tammy) Kelderman of Ottumwa, Peyton (Sally) Kelderman of New Sharon, and Kendra Howard of Oskaloosa; ten grandchildren, Jacob, Christina, Sarah, Jessica, Sylvia, Madison, Parker, Braxton, Kaidence, and Joceslyn; five great grandchildren, Malia, Alyssa, Kayleigh, Odin, and Atlas; two sisters, Becky Schwartz of Ottumwa and Denise (Winn) Gregory of Pella; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Tyler Howard; a brother, Mike Bonney; and a sister, Melody Murphy.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Tuesday after 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5:30 – 7:30 Tuesday evening to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the family .
