A southeast Iowa man faces multiple charges after allegedly falling asleep and failing to supervise his two kids, who crossed a street unattended.
26-year-old John Heasley of Chillicothe was charged with two counts of child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor.
On September 7th at 6:00 PM, court records say Heasley’s two minor children left their home on the 100 block of High Street in Chillicothe and crossed a public roadway in order to enter a property across the street. The Wapello County Sheriff’s Office says Heasley was asleep when this incident occurred.
A warrant for Heasley’s arrest was issued on September 23rd and he was taken into custody on October 28th.
Heasley is currently free after posting a $2,000 bond. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for November 6th.
