Fairfield High School senior Brice Boatright has committed to continue his athletic sporting career at Cornell College, a NCAA Division III school located in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

Boatright has been a key contributor for the Trojan cross country team this season, improving his personal record by 59 seconds and helping Fairfield capture its first meet title in five seasons.

Fairfield cross country head coach Jerrod Belzer said he could not be happier for his runner. “He’s been a huge part of our team’s success and has become a great leader as well. Coach Frawley has an outstanding program at Cornell and I know that Brice will fit in well and flourish there.”

Cornell College head coach Jerry Frawley said the program is thrilled to add Boatright. “We are very excited to welcome Brice into our cross country and track & field program! He has great excitement, enthusiasm and we feel he can develop tremendously within our program. He comes from a great family and community.”

Frawley noted that Cornell already has a strong pipeline of Fairfield athletes in the program. “We have some great examples of Fairfield Trojans within our cross country and track & field program right now, with Carley Seeley, Dylan Adam and Eli Hoffman, and with the guidance and coaching from Coach Belzer, we know the type of young men and women we are getting.”

Frawley said Boatright is joining at an exciting time for the program and has no ceiling on what he can accomplish. “Brice is a continuation of this pipeline of great student-athletes from Fairfield that we have here at Cornell College and he is coming into our program at an exciting time. He can develop and help continue to help build on our championship culture. However big he wants to dream and how hard he wants to work, the sky is the limit for Brice.”

Frawley also extended an open invitation to other student-athletes considering the school. “We encourage any student-athletes looking for a great and unique educational experience, balanced with a championship level athletic experience, to come check out Cornell College and see what we have built here in Mount Vernon!”

In a social media post announcing the commitment, Boatright thanked everyone for supporting him along the way and is looking forward to being a Ram.
