President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Sioux City today, October 22, as Republican candidates Zach Lahn and Brenna Bird discuss the importance of the upcoming November election.
Lahn, the Republican nominee for Iowa governor, is returning to his hometown for the event. He is challenging Democratic nominee Rob Sand in the gubernatorial race.
Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird, a Republican seeking reelection, is also expected to attend. Bird is facing Democratic challenger Nate Willems.
Both candidates have emphasized the importance of voter participation in northwest Iowa and across the state ahead of Election Day.
Lahn referenced the region’s role in previous Republican victories, while Bird said voter turnout in northwest Iowa could be a factor in the attorney general’s race.
Trump is scheduled to speak at 6 p.m. at Sioux Gateway Airport. He is also expected to make another appearance in Iowa on November 1.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, when Iowa voters will decide several state and federal races.
