A Van Buren County deputy arrested a 33-year-old man Wednesday morning, October 14th, on a string of charges following a break-in at the Douds Quick Stop overnight, according to a press release from Van Buren County Sheriff Brad Hudson.
A deputy responded at approximately 8:30 a.m. to a report of criminal mischief at the business. The owner reported that the door to a storage shed on the property had been kicked in overnight. Surveillance footage showed a male suspect approach the door, kick it in and leave just before midnight.
The suspect was identified as Bowe J. Cook, formerly of Henry County. Cook was located a short time later in Douds. According to the press release, when deputies attempted to place him under arrest, he refused to obey lawful orders and actively resisted. Cook was taken into custody after a brief struggle and treated at the Van Buren County Hospital for minor injuries before being booked into the Van Buren County Jail.
Cook is charged with drug tax stamp violation, controlled substance violation with intent to deliver (marijuana), possession of marijuana third or subsequent offense, possession of methamphetamine third or subsequent offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, neglect of an act causing injury, and criminal mischief in the fourth degree.
He is currently in custody awaiting his initial court appearance.
