The Des Moines National Weather Service is warning of the potential for heavy rainfall across central Iowa beginning Tuesday evening and continuing through Thursday night.
Forecasters say persistent rainfall could lead to flash flooding in some areas, followed by river flooding as water levels rise.
The greatest concern is across central Iowa, where several rounds of rain are expected over the next few days. Residents in areas prone to flooding should keep an eye on changing weather conditions and be prepared to take action if warnings are issued.
Drivers are also reminded to never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway. Water can be deeper and move faster than it appears.
