Wet conditions slowed the harvest again last week. The U.S.D.A. crop report says there was just one day suitable for fieldwork for the week that ended Sunday.
The amount of corn harvested increased by only 1% from last week to 5% overall, and it is now 9% behind last year. The number of soybeans in the bin also only went up 1% for a total of 3% harvested statewide. That is now 12% behind last year.
Crop experts say there is still time to catch up if we get some dry weather.
