A Fairfield woman is facing a domestic abuse charge after allegedly displaying a knife during an altercation at a Fairfield residence late Friday night.
Julia Davis, 36, has been charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Display or Use of a Weapon — First Offense, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
According to court documents and a press release by the Fairfield Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 10:53 p.m. on Friday, September 25th to a reported domestic disturbance in progress at a residence in the 800 block of West Harrison Avenue. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the male resident outside the home. He told officers he had returned home from a work trip out of state at approximately 9:00 p.m. and that Davis, who had been pet-sitting his cats, had been intoxicated when she contacted him earlier in the day. He said an altercation occurred during which Davis produced a knife and threatened him with it, and he provided officers with a photograph he had taken of Davis holding the knife.
Officers located Davis inside the residence in a back bedroom and escorted her outside. Davis told officers an altercation had occurred and that the male had struck her prior to her retrieving the knife. When asked directly whether she had pulled a knife on him, she acknowledged that she had. Davis also confirmed that she and the male were in a relationship.
Davis was placed under arrest and transported to the Jefferson County Jail. The Fairfield Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Davis is being held on a $3,000 cash or surety bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 6th. A no-contact order has also been requested in this case.
