After more than 21 years of ownership, Wasko Hardware near downtown Keosauqua has been sold, with new owners set to take over October 1st, according to a social media post from the store.

Joe and Susan Wasko announced that Brandon and Lizzie Warner, a local couple, will take over ownership and begin a new chapter for the store effective October 1st. The store will be renamed Warner’s Hardware and Supply under the new ownership. Brandon Warner will also offer Wasko Cabinetry through the store, allowing customers to continue shopping locally for Amish-built cabinetry.

The Waskos expressed gratitude to the community for more than two decades of support. “Wasko Hardware has been such a huge part of our lives for more than two decades,” the couple wrote. “What started as a business became so much more. We’ve watched families grow, made lifelong friendships, laughed with you, celebrated with you, and hopefully helped solve a few home improvement emergencies along the way.”

The couple said they are pleased the store will remain in local hands. “Brandon and Lizzie are a local couple who care about our community, and we are excited to see where they take the business,” they wrote.

Customers with outstanding Wasko Hardware gift cards are reminded that they must be used by September 30th before the ownership change takes effect.
