United Way of Wapello County announces a new Annual Charity Golf
Tournament. This year’s tournament is a community fundraiser benefiting Dolly Parton’s Imagination
Library of Wapello County. The event will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Cedar Creek Golf
Course in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Check-in begins at 8:00 AM with a shotgun start at 9:00 AM. The tournament is open to golfers of all skill
levels.
About the Event
Individual golfer registration is $65 per person, with team registration available at $260 for a team of
four with prepayment. Entry includes golf, cart, beverages, and lunch. Participants can also look forward
to a 50/50 drawing, hole prizes, mulligans, and flighted awards throughout the day.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses and community members who wish to support the
cause. Team Sponsorships are available at $260, and Event Sponsorships are available at $100 or
more. Organizers emphasize that no gift is too small.
Children who participate in the Imagination Library can build a personal home library of up to 60 books
before they enter kindergarten.
Every dollar raised through the Swing For Literacy! Golf Tournament stays local and goes directly to
funding book delivery for children enrolled in Wapello County. Every $30 raised will sponsor one local
child for one year; that’s 12 books!

United Way of Wapello County, in partnership with the Ottumwa Public Library, proudly brings Dolly
Parton’s Imagination Library to local families. The program mails one free, high-quality, age-appropriate
book every month to enrolled children from birth to age five — at absolutely no cost to families.
Research shows that 90% of physical brain development occurs before age three, and access to books
from birth is one of the strongest predictors of future school success. Children who participate in the
Imagination Library can build a personal home library of up to 60 books before they enter kindergarten.
