An Ottumwa man was arrested after officers allegedly found used needles and other drug-related materials during a search.
Zackary Williams, 30, was charged with controlled substance violation (Class B felony) and failure to affix a drug tax stamp (Class D felony).
On July 25th at approximately 11:20 AM at the intersection of Oakwood Avenue and North Elm Street in Ottumwa, court records say a K-9 unit was deployed and detected the presence of illegal narcotics in a vehicle belonging to Williams.
Authorities say Williams possessed numerous used hypodermic needles that contained blood and a liquid substance that was determined to be methamphetamine. In one of his pockets, authorities allege Williams had a plastic baggie containing 10.6 grams of methamphetamine with packaging. The arresting officer commented in the criminal complaint that based on training and experience, the amount of methamphetamine found was more consistent with delivery than personal use.
Williams was taken into custody and is currently in the Wapello County Jail. His bail is set at $25,000.
