Donald “Donnie” Allgood, age 71, of Eddyville, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at his home in Eddyville, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 31, 1955, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Royal Ray and Barbara (Johnston) Allgood. He attended Eddyville High School and graduated with the Class of 1973. On November 2, 1974, he was united in marriage to Penny (Sutton) at his grandparents’ house in Eddyville. Together, they enjoyed 53 years of marriage.
Donnie worked for Eddyville Schools, driving buses and doing custodial work. He enjoyed fishing, taking trips to the casino, riding his motorcycle, keeping his yard mowed and pristine and always had an eye out for a good bargain. Donnie was an avid Seattle Seahawks and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He loved spending garage time with friends and family. Above all else, he had a love for his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Allgood of Eddyville; his children, Barry (Cami) Allgood of Eddyville and Megan (Jeremy) Brooks of Ottumwa, his grandchildren, Haelynn, Olin, Baylie, Ryleigh, Colby and another one on the way; his great grandchildren, Henzley, Emersyn and Jetsyn; a brother, Robert Allgood and two special friends, John Bates and Laura Gray.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents.
As was his wish, cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge or arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family.
